cmdtools - a command line toolset in the spirit of the Unix command line philosophy (until I find a better name)
Features:
- (Relatively) small programs, with a good definition of the functionality
- The programs can be connected to each other (output - input) with the pipe
- Compatibility with already existing, standard tools (like cat, grep, etc). This is why all the program names start with 'a' (to avoid name collision with the standard ones)
- Multiplatform: the toolset works both on Windows and Linux (and presumably on other Unices)
- Multicompiler: the toolset can be compiled with C++ Builder, Visual Studio, g++
- Built-in help for each program (called with -? option)
- The extensive usage of the Eval library (the Eval-related help can be called with the -eval? parameter)
- Multithreading: command execution (axargs), sorting, searching
- Access to and usage of the clipboard (to communicate even with non command line applications, Windows only)
- No installation process, just extract the executables to a directory (O.K., one step is necessary: add the directory to the PATH environment variable (Windows), to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Linux))
The toolset contains the following programs (the links point to the help texts of the programs):
